CDS Welcomes Students from Radboud University PDF Print E-mail

CDS is pleased to again host students from Radboud University, The Netherlands.

Paula Peters, Nienke Duijnhouwer and Emely Nederlof will be based at the centre for 2 months as part of their internship.  Paula, Nienke and Emely are 3rd year pedagogical science students and must complete a small research project and thesis as part of their studies.  The students will be conducting secondary analysis of deidentified data coming from the I-CAN clinical database, with supervision from Sam Arnold.  We will be sad to see the students leave us at the end of March, though hope that they enjoy their time in Australia.

Tweaking the Future
“Small Changes Big Outcomes”

The program aimed to provide a variety of topics designed to challenge attendees to review their practice and adopt a ‘research to practice’ attitude in all that they do.  The theme of Tweaking the Future recognised that it is the often small things that we do on a daily basis, when based on sound research, can make substantial contributions to the lives of people with disabilities and the professional satisfaction of support staff.  The Conference got off to a lively start with an engaging presentation by Bob Bowen CEO The Mandt System®. Bob explained his theories around the impact of trauma and practice designed to prevent, de-escalate and, if necessary, intervene in the prevention of aggression.
